Babylon health, our new day to day benefit, gives Irish Life Health customers exclusive access to fully covered face- to- face video consultations on a smartphone with an Irish registered GP. When you purchase an Irish Life Health plan with cover for babylon health, you will receive a code from Irish Life Health. The code will be included on your Table of Cover. Download the app by searching ‘babylon health’ in the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone. After downloading the app, input this code and other details when prompted.

No, you can use it as soon as you’ve registered on the app, no waiting periods apply.

Depending on the time of day that you book, you can get an appointment within half an hour and no more than 2 hours. 95% of patients get an appointment within 30 minutes.

No, the GP who is free at your preferred time of appointment will host your consultation. However, if you would like to see the same GP on your next appointment, you can discuss and organise this with the GP while you are having the initial consultation. 

A consultation timeslot is 10 minutes long and a patient can discuss any number of ailments like a normal GP visit, within that time. If you feel your appointment will take longer than 10 minutes we would advise booking an extra slot. This means using an extra consultation.

If you provide less than two hours notice, this will count as one of your consultations. If you need to cancel and give more notice than 2 hours, it will not count as a consultation. To arrange another appointment please book as usual through the app.

If you have used your allocated number of benefits under your Irish Life Health insurance plan, you have an option to continue using this service directly with babylon health through a discounted Pay-As–You-Go or subscription option. Irish Life Health members who have access to babylon health on their plan can get a 20% reduction on these prices.

There is no need to claim for this benefit, all you need to do is register with babylon to use this service. 
 

Diagnosis

The babylon GP may ask you for these measurements if required. It may be handy to know these figures before your consultation begins but don't worry the GP can guide you on how best to calculate your BMI for example. They can also be added into the ‘clinical records’ function of the app prior to a consultation.

If a member requires any pathology or urinalysis it will be recommended that you see your own GP. Your own GP will assist you from there. If you want to add your results to your app, you can upload them to your clinical records.

The babylon GP will not be able to give you an official Department of Social Welfare Sick Cert, however, they will be able to give you a sick note for your employer.

The person who is using the service must also have an Irish Life Health plan, with the benefit included, to use the babylon health service. So if your child is covered they can use the service under strict guidelines and supervised by their parent or guardian.
You will have to set up an account for your child. This can be done easily and quickly through your babylon health profile by:
 

  1. Open the app and selecting “settings” from the home screen
  2. Clicking on your “Family Account” feature
  3. Inputting your child’s details
  4. Booking an appointment through their new parallel profile

You will have the option to have your prescription sent to your home address or directly to a pharmacy of your choice following the consultation with the babylon GP. If you request a same day prescription, the babylon GP will fax this to the pharmacy directly.

The App

The babylon health service will be available to download 24 hours after purchasing a policy with us. You will need to have received your unique code to start using the app.

When you purchase one of our plans that covers babylon health, you will receive a unique code from Irish Life Health. This code will be included on your Table of Cover. Download the app by searching ‘babylon health’ in the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone. After downloading the app, input this code and other details when prompted.

At the sign-in screen, you have the option to reset your password. babylon health will send you an email to your registered email address and you can follow the prompts to reset your password.

Security

All your personal records are private and confidential, available only to you and your IMC (Irish Medical Council) registered babylon GP. You will need to login to your babylon health account to access any of your records on the app. Please ensure that you keep your password safe.
 

Yes, you will need to insert your name, date of birth, and email address. The system has an automatic log out function, no records are stored on the phone itself, so your data is protected.

babylon do not store your personal health data on your phone. All of your personal health data, medical information and diagnostic information is encrypted and stored on military grade secure servers in the UK. You pick your own personal password that will give you access to your medical records. The system has an automatic log out function, no records are stored on the phone itself, so your data is protected. 
 

No medical or personal information will be shared with Irish Life Health.
